Activities

Use this activity to engage all types of learners, while requiring that they refer to and incorporate details from the text over the course of the activity.

“Multiple Intelligences”

In this activity, students will create visual media to celebrate their individual intelligence based on text details.

Aldo, Mateo, Barnstorm, Parker, and the other students in the Unteachables class learn to identify the intelligences they have outside of the classroom. Consider your own personal intelligences based on Gardner’s theory of the 8 multiple intelligences (musical, interpersonal, spatial-visual, linguistic, etc.). Select your three strongest intelligences and create visual media to represent them. Use these points to guide the development of your media.

  • Identify the three intelligences you use the most and feel the most comfortable with.
  • Explain the activities you enjoy that use those three intelligences.
  • Explore careers based on those three intelligences that you may be interested in.
  • Examine how your three strongest intelligences relate to a character in the novel.

Share your visual media with peers and summarize your three intelligences, the activities you enjoy, possible careers, and draw connections to the novel’s characters that also use your intelligences. Explain why you feel the most connected to this character.
