For select classroom titles, we also provide Teaching Guides with discussion and quiz questions to prompt student engagement.

“Character Posters”
In this activity, students will represent the main characters from Behind the Bedroom Wall in posters.
The characters and their relationships drive Williams’s novel. Mapping the values, characteristics, and relationships of each character will allow you a greater understanding of the novel’s plot points and thematic ideas. Together, your class will create a resource to help you to continue to unpack the novel.
You will create an informational poster about one, two, or three important character(s) from Behind the Bedroom Wall. These posters will summarize important aspects of these characters, including a consideration of their appearance, influences, manner, values, and relationships. Each poster (one for each character) should contain:
o Age
o Occupation (if relevant)
o Race/nationality (e.g., German Jew),
o Their manner (e.g., soft-spoken and shy)
o Important beliefs (e.g., “Believes that all people deserve to be treated respectfully”)
